Chevening Scholarships
Supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), Chevening Scholarships boasts funding for future leaders and students from 160+ countries. It offers scholarships as well as fellowships.
The scholarship is open to international students who wish to pursue a one-year master's degree from the UK. This fully-funded scholarship covers the course fees, accommodation, and flight fares as well.
Eligibility Criteria -
- You must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country
- Work experience of about two years or 2,800 hours.
- It would help if you were equipped with an undergraduate degree akin to the requirements of the Master's degree in a university of your choice. Additionally, you must have applied to three different universities for a degree of your interest and have received an unconditional offer of a seat from at least one of them.
The entire process takes about eight months, wherein the British officials will interview the sifted applicants. It starts from November of each year and ends next year during September-October.
The fellowship is open to all international students who have had postgraduate qualifications from any fellowship-eligible country. The candidates who display extraordinary potential to excel in their desired field will be considered for this fellowship, given they have not received any UK scholarship or fellowship in the last five years.
Commonwealth Scholarships
This scholarship is offered to international students from Commonwealth countries or territories, refugees or British-protected people. Around 800 students are invited to pursue their postgraduate degrees in the UK each year. This committee offers Ph.D. scholarships, Master's scholarships, distance-learning scholarships, Shared scholarships, split-site scholarships, and professional fellowships.
Eligibility Criteria -
- You must hold an undergraduate degree of at least upper second class (2:1) or second class (2:2).
GREAT Scholarships
This scholarship is offered to students from India who wish to pursue a one-year master's degree in the UK. There are 60 scholarships offered to Indian students to study in the UK, collaborating with the UK universities and the British Council. Many prestigious universities partake in this campaign, including the University of Exeter, University of Cambridge, University of East Anglia, University of Warwick, University College of London, Imperial College, and many more.
A sum of a minimum of £10,000 is allocated to the student for their tuition fees.
Elibility Criteria -
- You must be a citizen of India and have completed your undergraduate degree from a recognized university.
- You must also meet the English language requirements, for which you can sit for language examinations like IELTS and TOEFL.

Charles Wallace India Trust (CWIT) Scholarships
This scholarship is offered to scholars from India who hold a postgraduate or similar first-degree professional qualification in any discipline.
Eligibility Criteria -
- Candidates with work experience are usually preferred.
- You must be between 28-38 years of age and have not received any CWIT grants in the last five years.
- Candidates should hold a valid IELTS scorecard
The scholarship will cover your accommodation and living costs in the UK. However, the candidate is expected to cover their transportation expenses in India, and have general travel and medical insurance. Apart from this, you will award a sum of £600 for international travel costs.
Scotland's Saltire Scholarships
This scholarship will be offered to those scholars who have not previously studied in Scotland and haven't received this scholarship once.This scholarship is open to students from India, Canada, China (Including Hong Kong), Japan, Pakistan, and the USA.
Eligibility Criteria -
- Students must have a conditional or an unconditional offer from any of the colleges of Scotland in any eligible postgraduate Master's degree.
- The candidates must display the ability to meet the living costs in Scotland, where applicable, and the remaining tuition fees.
- The scholars must also meet the language requirements of living and studying in the UK.
In addition to these scholarships, most UK universities have their scholarships offered either partially or are fully funded. For example, the University of Westminster offers a full scholarship (including travel, accommodation, living cost, and course fees) in collaboration with the Chevening Scholarship committee. The university also offers a one-time scholarship of £2,000 for scholars who wish to pursue a postgraduate Master's degree.
